Denenberg_Headshot_300.jpgMake the Road Action Fund (MRAF) announced its final round of Long Island endorsements for the 2014 statewide elections. MRAF, a grassroots advocacy organization representing Latino communities on Long Island and New York City, today endorsed Adrienne Esposito for State Senate District 3, Dave Denenberg for State Senate District 8, and Assemblyman Phil Ramos for Assembly District 9. MRAF, the sister organization of the 14,000-member non-profit Make the Road New York, has become a central player in local elections and policy campaigns affecting Latino, immigrant, and LGBTQ communities across downstate New York. Their endorsement provides further strength to the coalition of labor groups, community leaders and grassroots activists backing these three candidates.

Javier H. Valdés, co-Executive Director of the Make the Road Action Fund, affirmed: “Today, our members are proud to announce our endorsements of Adrienne Esposito, Legislator Dave Denenberg, and Assemblyman Phil Ramos. These three progressive candidates have shown a deep understanding of the issues our communities face, and we look forward to working with them in Albany to expand protections for workers, immigrants, and LGBTQ New Yorkers, including by increasing the minimum wage with local authorization and passing the DREAM Act.”

Legislator Dave Denenberg, candidate for State Senate District Eight, said, “I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Make the Road Action Fund (MRAF), which I have come to respect as one of the strongest and most accomplished progressive policy organizations in the State of New York.  The work of MRAF in advancing civil rights, improving housing and education policy and creating better working conditions for all New Yorkers has improved the quality of life and it is something I am proud to advocate in my campaign.”
